Meet Brenda
Hello! I’m honored to be running to serve on the Pierce County Council for District 7.
My professional and civic career has been committed to improving the lives of the people I serve. I have been a resident of Pierce County for over 45 years and have called both Gig Harbor and North Tacoma home. I currently live in the Proctor area of North Tacoma with my husband and have two grown children.
I grew up in the Lakewood/Steilacoom area and attended Clover Park High School, followed by undergraduate and graduate school at the University of Washington in Seattle. I have practiced in Neonatology for over 35 years as a nurse practitioner provider, educator, and lecturer and founded the award-winning SW Washington Perinatal/Neonatal Training Consortium. I have connected with my patients and families from a variety of backgrounds and hear their concerns about access to affordable living, including healthcare, transportation, and childcare.
I have had the privilege of serving as a community leader when I was elected to serve as a Gig Harbor City Council member from 2022 to 2025, where I was chosen by my colleagues as Mayor Pro Tem in 2023 and 2024 and represented the city on the Pierce County Regional Council. Along with my council colleagues, I supported parks development, improved roadways and transit, land conservation, and worked on solutions for public safety, supporting our most vulnerable residents, economic development improvements, and ensuring that our community is welcoming to all.
In 2025, I was elected to serve as a Commissioner on the Pierce County Charter Review for District 7 where I am working with fellow Commissioners to consider possible amendments to the County’s Charter to be placed on the ballot for voter’s consideration. This work has expanded my understanding of the functions of county government and the necessary transparency and checks and balances to powers within our leadership.
I am a respectful and collaborative leader working across jurisdictions and viewpoints to solve problems. Our district communities are diverse but share a deep sense of community and civic engagement. I have heard from many residents who have shared that they are feeling the pressure of rising costs, growing traffic, and have concerns about safety and growth.
I invite you to follow my campaign and I look forward to the opportunity to connect with you and work together to make our communities stronger with your support. I would be honored to earn your vote.
In gratitude,
Brenda
